The studio earned an esteemed nomination at this year’s Royal Television Society Awards Yorkshire for their work on Discovery Channel’s Tutankhamun documentary, Tut – A Century of Mysteries.
Earlier this year, Flying Duck Studio Lab announced its nomination in the animation category at the Royal Television Society Awards Yorkshire 2023 for its outstanding contributions to the Discovery Channel’s Tutankhamun documentary, Tut – A Century of Mysteries. This nomination stands as a testament to the quality and creative brilliance displayed in bringing this documentary to life.
In 2022, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb, Flying Duck Studio Lab, led by founder Alixe Lobato, played a pivotal role in creating a visually striking film that seamlessly fused ancient and modern elements. Merging Flying Duck’s creative expertise with the rich history of Egyptology resulted in a visual masterpiece, which celebrated Tutankhamun’s enduring legacy.
Directed by Mike Ibenji, the documentary made its debut on the Discovery Channel, garnering widespread acclaim for its storytelling. While the primary focus was on delivering outstanding graphical elements, the nomination in the animation category recognised the collective effort that brought this project to fruition.
It was a tremendous honour to have contributed to the Tutankhamun documentary and to be nominated for our animated content, especially going up against some very established, incredible companies in the industry. I really enjoyed working on the documentary at the time, but I did not expect the nomination. It felt like a big acknowledgement for the work that we do and produce in the studio.
